County Fair :)

Hey there! Sorry I have not been on lately but I got a good excuse! I have been showing at the county fair! It was a great experience and opportunity, let me tell you :)!

This year my friend had a Legislative Show where representatives from my state came and showed a beef steer. It was successful, awesome, learning experience! I got the pleasure to me a representatives wife (Rebeca) , she was FEARLESS when it came to blowing, setting up the calf it was great.

One thing that was negative is a couple people on the fair board (directors) where not so kind to the sheep barn and other barns. The electricity went out, so my family got as many generators as possible to hook up fans, blowers, sheers, ect. But some of the familys in the barn where not as fortunate and had no generators. They took forever to fix it and when they did the transmitter blew!! It looked like they where shooting off fireworks!! Horrible!!! Yeah!

YEAH! But over all what a great fair!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)))))0000

1 day left!!

My fair stats tomorrow, all livestock is going to be brought in on Saturday except for the pigs. I can;t believe after all of my hard work i get to finally show everyone, in front of the whole community! If it goes wrong it's on my neck but hopefully I will succeed! Sunday is a Legislative Show. My best friend Madison is putting on, all the legislator from my state will be coming and spending the whole day with a 4-h er. It is mostly for the beef barn but 2 kids from every species will be put together with a legislator at the supper. I am representing the sheep barn! YEAH! My best is what I will give and I will tell the Legislator all about 4-h and why it such a good program and about the HSUS. It is a amazing program, I have learned so much!!!

Here is some Pictures of how I prepared for 4-H and my family, some are from last year!!

This is a song that teaches abotu irragration!! Water - n- poo!

last night experoence

Last night at my county fair grounds I got to watch them test chickens for certain diseases. They would prick the inside of the chickens wing a little blood would come out, she took the needle and put the blood on a ceramic tile. After she got the chicken to stop bleeding which only took a couple of seconds she put a special liquid on the blood. The liquid turned the blood a dark purple this is normal. If the blood got clumpy and thick that meant it had a disease. None of the chicken in the barn had disease which is awesome.

When I thought about this it reminded me of when people get blood drawn. They get pricking in the arm (wing) and then there is blood test for many diseases. This didn't hurt the chickens it was just like getting your finger pricked. Everything was sterilized and cleaned many times in the barn to ensure that nothing would get sick or if there was a disease it be transferred. You might think...why am I telling you this?? Because I want people who think doing that hurts and abuse them is just like getting your blood checked. If you have any question about more detail in the process please ask me.

its like getting your blood tested but using less blood.

The Truth

Many non-agriculturist (like PETA & HSUS) don't believe that we take good care of our animals. But we do! What they think we do is cage them up and hurt them. Giving them medication so that they artificialy grow until the day we take them to slaughter. That's no how it works! There are reason for ever little thing on farms, from branding to housing, to ear tags, medications, feed everything! Branding and ear tags help ID (identify) animals from a distance and also they help sort animals. If you have any questions about things you have seen on a farm or on line please e-mail me or comment because I will answer them for you.
